Road Trip

05Jul09

Bear with me as I actually write a post about my upcoming road trip rather than reviewing items and what not.

My mom is flying in monday night (July 6) so that we can drive my car home together on what will be an 8 day road trip. We are stopping in quite a few places, and I think it’ll be a lot of fun. (Even though 8 days is a long time for two people…)

Our first drive is going to be about 7-8 hours to Sante Fe, New Mexico. We will spend two nights there and I’m really excited to check this town out. I’ve been doing a bit of research and besides the scenery, I think it would be really fun to do this llama trekking excursion. It sounds kind of weird but I think it would be a blast. And now that I’m and art connossieur (hah…) I fully plan on checking out the local galleries and reviewing some of my favorite pieces I find. I’m also really looking forward to some delicious Southwestern food. (My mom and I are all about food, so I’m sure there will be more to come about that.)

Next on our journey is Sedona, Arizona. Everyone I have talked to who has been there says it’s amazing. Both the views of the red rocks and the town are said to be incredibly gorgeous. I can’t wait to find out what the town is like there, but I’m wondering what kinds of activities there are in Sedona. Maybe we will go horseback riding. (Suggestions?)

After Sedona, we will be driving to Williams, AZ and then taking a train to the Grand Canyon. I’ve never been to GC, but I think it’s a place that everyone has to visit at least once. I really want to check out the Skywalk and learn about the history surrounding the area. I really like hearing the stories of the tribes in the area and the history of the places I visit.

For the last two days of the trip, we will be heading to Las Vegas. Although I’m not 21 yet, I am really excited for Vegas. I’ve been there before and had a great time. This time, we are going to stay at the Venetian and seeing the Phantom, which happens to be my favorite show.

Then it’s homeward bound, a straight shot to San Francisco. I am well aware that these states are going to be like 110° because it’s the middle of summer, but I guess that means I will be getting a good tan… I’ll actually probably be a little miserable because of that but whatever. If anyone has suggestions as to activities or places to eat please let me know.

Until I’m home,

Yillian
